The content on this website is divided into two functions, overview mode and editing mode. The overview mode allows for viewing each policy and
procedure's "At a Glance" document, which can be accessed with your web
browser. Simply select the "At A Glance" link from the left navigation, and choose the policy you are interested in from the list. After you have become acquainted with the different policies, you can click on the "Policy
and "Procedure" link to view a list of the individual policies and
procedures along with the corresponding job aids and "at a glance document" for that particular policy and procedure. The policy and procedure documents can then be opened in a word processor (Microsoft Word, or WordPerfect), to edit and adapt to fit your current TB plan.
For those who prefer to work with the full document, it can be opened via the "Complete
Template" link.
Right click on this link and choose save as to save to
your computers hard drive, or your organization's computer network.
To use the wesite, you will need a personal computer with a word processing program and a web browser. Basic word processing skills are required to use the template. Staff using the template file will need to know how to select and delete text, add text, save files, and print files. Beginner web browser skills are required to navigate the website.
To customize template files, you will need the following software:
- Microsoft Windows 95 (or later) or Mac OS 8.0 (or later)
- Microsoft Word 7.0 (or later) or Corel WordPerfect 8.0 (or later)
To view the key pages on the website you will need one of the following web browsers:
- Microsoft IE 5.0 or higher
- Netscape Navigator 4.7 or higher
You also can download the template files from the Francis J. Curry National Tuberculosis Center website: http://www.nationaltbcenter.ucsf.edu
All files on the website are read-only and must be saved to your hard drive for editing.
Approximately 28 megs of free hard disk space is required to save the entire website files.
PDF: To view and print files ending in ".pdf", you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. PDF files are read-only on the website and all other locations.
For a free Adobe Acrobat Reader download, go to:
http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html
For Adobe Acrobat Reader download and product support, refer to:
http://www.adobe.com/misc/comments.html
If Acrobat Reader does not open automatically after you click on the file link, set your file associations to use Acrobat Reader as the program that opens pdf file types. To set file associations, refer to the instructions provided with your computer's operating system.
DOC: Files ending in "doc" are the files that you copy and modify to develop your jail's customized plan. These files work best on Windows 95 (or later) operating systems with Microsoft Word version 6.0 (or later) software.
RTF: If you use WordPerfect 8.0 (or later) or work on a Macintosh operating system 8.0 (or later) and cannot open the .doc files, use the rich text format (rtf) files. They are another type of file that you can copy and modify to develop your jail's customized plan and have the same text content as the .doc files. Rich text format files work on a wider range of word processing software packages and operating systems. Because they have no graphics or advanced formatting, the .rtf files will differ slightly from the TB ICP binder printout.
If your computer cannot read the website or if it is difficult to open the template files, technical support is available:
