Tuberculosis Clinical Intensive

For physicians and other licensed medical professionals who diagnose and treat tuberculosis. The course covers:
- epidemiology of tuberculosis (TB)
- diagnosis, management, and treatment of TB
- transmission and pathogenesis
- TB and HIV coinfection
- TB targeted testing and laboratory testing
- pediatric TB
- treatment of latent TB infection
- multiple drug resistance
- legal and ethical issues in TB control
- TB radiology
Course objectives (partial list):
By the end of the course, participants will be able to describe:
- current epidemiology of TB in the United States
- transmission and pathogenesis of M. tb and the impact of HIV infection
- how to diagnose TB and TB infection
- current laws regarding the care of TB patients
- the principles of tuberculosis treatment and how to care for multidrug-resistant TB
- current targeted testing and treatment of latent TB infection strategies
Course format:
Includes lecture, discussion, and case presentations.
Individuals must participate in all three days of the course. (No prorated units available)

The Francis J. Curry National Tuberculosis Center is designated as a Regional Tuberculosis Training and Medical Consultation Center (RTMCC) via a funded cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Our RTMCC prioritizes learners from the western region of the United States which consists of fifteen jurisdictions: Alaska, California (including Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco), Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the U.S. Pacific Island Territories.
